Organization Profile

The Directorate of Forensic Science Services (DFSS), New Delhi is a nodal organization of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India (GoI) to propagate and carry out credible forensic science practices in the country to serve the cause of justice delivery system. DFSS was established in the year 2002 on bifurcation of the Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D), New Delhi and have seven Central Forensic Science Laboratories (CFSLs) at Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Pune, Kamrup and Delhi. The CFSLs undertake the scientific examination of case exhibits forwarded by the judiciary, police and investigation agencies (like CBI, NIA, ED, NCB, CID, Vigilance departments), PSUs, Banks of Central and State Governments.
